Notes Aboriginal people stole sheep.
Narrative John Coppock, W.H. Yaldwin’s overseer, said in a sworn statement, that on 9 June 1840, about 50 Aborigines who had stolen sheep from Dr Bowman and Mr Yaldwyn’s runs, had been tracked down by a party of eight white men. A “pitched battle” took place for three quarters of an hour, in which seven or eight Aborigines were shot dead, after which the sheep were recovered.
