Third of the five daughters of the Rev. Edward Barlee, Rector of Worlingworth, Suffolk, she was Lady superintendent of the Institution for the Employment of Needlewomen, Hinde St, founded 1860, as well as a contributor to the Athenaeum, the Englishwoman's Journal and MP (1866), referred to 3 April 1863.
