Biography
He was grandson of the admiral's sister Mrs Bolton, brother of Lady Susan (Nelson) Blunt. His father had changed his surname from Bolton to Nelson in 1835 on succeeding to the title, which had been secured by special remainder to descendants of the admiral’s sisters. The 3rd Lord Nelson’s mother, Frances Eyre (d.1878), was a friend of FMY’s, and CMY therefore knew him and his sister as children.
