Biography
He married (10 Sept 1863) Elspeth Catherine Moberly, known as Kitty Barter; he also had a sister Kate Barter who ran a school in Shipton. Son of the Rev. Charles Barter, Vicar of Sarsden, he was educated at Eton and Merton College Oxford, and became Vicar of Shipton-under-Wychwood in 1868. [Eton Register; Alumni Oxonienses]
