Biography
A Gosling as ‘Hedgerose’ from c. 1865, living then at 6 Trevor Terrace Rutland Gate, she was born Mauritius, daughter of John Pridham, schoolmaster; she was first cousin of Christabel Coleridge and Katherine Helmore. Her mother remarried William Martyn MRCS (1815-96); in 1881 she was living 63 Harcourt Terrace in the household of Thomas Leon Wilkinson, perhaps as a governess, in 1891 with her stepfather and mother at Westmoreland Lodge, Inner Park Rd. Wandsworth [1871, 1881 census; Plarr, Lives of FRCS; Hainton, The Unknown Coleridge; the Plymouth Herald (7 April 1838) records the death of John Drake Pridham (1777/8-1838), of the firm of Harris Rosdew and Co, bankers of this town; he was father of John Pridham, Mrs Helmore and Mrs Derwent Coleridge]
