Biography

The author of Ploughing and Sowing was the daughter of the Rev. Francis Simpson, Vicar of Boynton, and of Anne Strickland (d.1868), daughter of Sir William Strickland, 6th Bt. She was not exactly niece of Sir Henry Boynton 10th Bt. (1811-69) of Burton Agnes, as CMY says, but his first wife Louisa Strickland (d.1841) was her mother’s first cousin, and other marriages connected the two families.
