Biography
A school teacher, partly deaf, she was born a Unitarian, and joined the Church of England under the influence of F. D. Maurice. See ‘New Year’s Words from the Editor’ MP 3s 11 (January 1886), 41: ‘Long ago, in the earlier agest of the ‘Monthly Packet,’ a New Year’s address used to come with unfailing briskness, force, and truth, from the pen of Miss Emily Taylor, then known to us only by her initial T.’
