He was educated at Westminster and Clare College, Cambridge, 2nd Wrangler, Fellow of Clare 1827-50, barrister 1830-39, ordained 1841; he married (1850) Jane Ferguson; he was Rector of Datchworth 1849-74. [Alumni Cantabrigienses]
