Biography
Son of Richard Bargus and Ann Lock, and half-brother of CMY’s grandfather the Rev. Thomas Bargus. CMY in Coleridge, Life, 6 states that he died in the same epidemic as Lord Brooke (1772-1786), son of the 2nd Earl of Warwick and his first wife Georgiana Peachey (whose father Lord Selsey was Thomas Bargus’s patron). John Lock Bargus appears in Alumni Oxonienses and Register of Gray’s Inn.
