Biography
He was consecrated bishop in 1831 but accusations of sexual misconduct resulted in his suspension in the 1840s. Disputes raged over the justice of this between the tractarian and evangelical wings of the American episcopal church until his death. It was not he, but the Bishop of western New York, the Rt. Rev. William Heathcote DeLancey, whom CMY met at the SPG meeting in Winchester in 1852.
