Person’s Profile
Owen Browne Carter1802/3-1859)
Description
architect
Biography
Carter was employed to draw plans for the church of St. Matthew Otterbourne, though CMY always maintained that her father did most of the work. He was a Winchester architect, and worked on the restoration of the cathedral. In 1856 he was accused, but acquitted, of forgery. His obituary speaks darkly of eccentricities and a death in poverty.
