CMY refers to 'Miss Watson and her German', which suggests that she was the author of the series of articles 'Studies in German Literature' which appeared in MP (January-June 1891). These were accompanied by an essay competition, and contestants were asked to send answers to 'Miss Watson, Brightwell, Tetsworth, Oxon..The 1891 census return shows a Margaret Watson (b. Oxfordshire 1858/9), sister of a land agent, living with him at Brightwell Baldwin, which is reasonably near Tetsworth, who seems a possible candidate.
