Biography
She had been married very young (1870) to her first cousin John Augustus Seymour Morse Davies (b.India 1842/3); the marriage, which had taken place at Gretna Green, was declared void in 1878, the parties not having lived in Scotland for 21 days preceding the wedding. [Lawford v Davies (1878) 4 PD 61, 47 LJP 38 P, D and Admlty] This fact may sufficiently account for the disapproving tone of CMY's references to her.
