Person’s Profile

Edith Crawley (b.1837)

missionary, cousin of CMY

She sailed for Cape Town with Bishop Gray and Mary Anderson Morshead, leaving Plymouth on 10 October 1868. She was the daughter of George Abraham Crawley (1795-1862), solicitor, and granddaughter of the Rev. Charles Crawley (1756-1849), Rector of Stowe Nine Churches and brother of CMY's grandmother Catharina (Crawley) Yonge. After her return from South Africa Edith Crawley seems to have lived with her brother, also the Rev. Charles Crawley.
