Biography
Educated at New Coll, Oxford, he was Chaplain to Bishop of Calcutta 1872-6, vicar of Portsea from 1878, hon. canon of Winchester 1884, Bishop of Newcastle 1895, then St. Albans 1903. He was third son of the Rev. Dr. Philip Jacob of Crawley, Hants and Anna Sophia Noel. He never married. His sister Edith Jacob founded the Society of Watchers and Workers.
