Biography
Her contribution is signed 'G. L. J.'. She was sister of Edith and Edgar Jacob. Their father's youngest brother, Sir George Le Grand Jacob (1805-1881), retired after a distinguished career in the Indian army in 1861, and took Gertrude to live with him as his adopted daughter; she collaborated on some of his oriental researches.
