Biography
Coming from a family with a strong record on anti-slavery campaigning and prison visiting, she ran a school for Christian girls in Sarajevo with Paulina Irby, closed it in 1875 as a result of uprising and succoured refugees on Slavonia border. The letter to her (1876) concerns taking clothes to Herzegovina for Serbian refugees; she returned to England 1885. [Paulina Irby and Johnston’s namesake mother have ODNB entries ;D.
