He was a fellow of St. John’s College, Auckland (1849-53), vicar of St. Paul’s, Auckland (1853-65), Archdeacon of Waitemata 1865-1870; he returned to England in 1870 and became Rector of Kirk-Ireton, Wirksworth. [DNZB]
