Biography
Brother of the Rt. Rev. John Fielder Mackarness, he became Bishop of Argyll in 1874.. He is listed as a contributor to the Hursley Magazine in 1848 (the BL has his copy), and may perhaps have been one of Keble’s curates. In the same volume another contributor is ‘Miss Young (Mrs G. R. Mackarness). He married Mary Ann Young (b. Ireland 1823/4) in 1848, and secondly (1878) Gertrude Granville.
