MS Charlotte Mitchell

My dear Lord Bishop
A great many thanks for the poem. I will mark the MS so that the printers should send the proof to you I hope early in January. The story is very touching as you have made it. I wonder how many such tragedies there are going on, unknown.1

I shall always be grateful to it for having brought me your Christmas blessing

With kind regards to Mrs and Miss How.

yours respectfully
C M Yonge

1The story recounted in How's poem 'Told at a Village Inn to a Naturalists' Field Club on a Wet Day (Founded on a Fact)' MP (February 1885), 101-9, concerns the younger son of a squire, clandestinely married to the vicar's daughter, who dies in America unbeknownst to his family.
