My dear Madam

I am afraid that I cannot vote for your protegé as I have promised my vote to a boy some relations are interested in.

In all Sir Walter Scott’s works the royal family of Scotland are spelt Stewart, and I was assured by a Scotch lady that Stuart was only a modern variety adopted in France

yours truly

C M Yonge
