Miss Yonge would be much obliged if Messrs Macmillan would send a copy of each of her works to the Vnble Archdeacon Badnell1
Care of H J Dunell Esq
4 Upper Hyde Park Gardens W2

1The Ven. Hopkins Badnall (1821- 1892) was Archdeacon of George in South Africa, and later Bishop of Cape Town, which accounts for his correspondence being forwarded. CMY was probably presenting the books to a school.
2On the reverse is a list of book titles in CMY’s writing: ‘History of Christian Names/ The Heir of Redclyffe/ Dynevor Terrace/ Daisy Chain/ Heartsease/ Hopes and Fears/ Young Stepmother/ Lances of Lynwood/ Little Duke / Marie Theresè of Lamourous’. These have been ticked in pencil and 'sent by I.D.C. Sept 5’ is noted.
