MS Charlotte Mitchell.

Madam,

I am glad that the introduction of that letter has been serviceable.  I am afraid though that I do not see any prospect of being able to make room for the story from Mrs Charlesworth as I am engaged to serials for a great way on1

yours truly

C M Yonge

1The well-known children's writer Maria Louisa Charlesworth was unmarried, so it is not clear if this reference is to her or not. Her work was probably too Low Church for MP and possibly the rather chilly tone of this note is connected with CMY's view of her works.
