My dear Miss Smith
I remembered with consternation this morning that I had never answered about your poor girl. I hope if we had had a vote to give that I should have behaved better, but the fact is that there is a child from the parish where my grandfather was Rector whom we must vote for till he is disposed of. I always feel very sore about that Asylum, having subscribed for an idiot of our own parish and then found him ineligible because unluckily he had had parish relief–1

We have just set out on a two months expedition from home — and are enjoying this most charming place with all our hearts–

A direction to Otterbourn will always find me–
