MS British Library Add MSS 54920: 172-173

Dear Mr Macmillan,
Would you be so kind as to send an order for me for Sir F. Palgraves History of Normandy and England. I cannot get my Cameo’s [sic] correct without it, and Dr Moberly’s copy on which I reckoned proves to be packed up for leaving Winchester so as to be unobtainable. I can do nothing till I get it, and though I could order it from the London Library, one is kept often very long waiting for that kind of book.

If I knew who was the publisher I would write direct, but I cannot remember.

Pray tell Mrs Craik when you see her that Mme de Witt writes to me that M Guizot considers her ‘Two Marriages’ ‘comme un chef d’ouvre‘ [sic]

Yours sincerely
C M Yonge
