My dear Miss Smith
Thanks for the Exhibition – which is full of interest. I wish there was any chance of my seeing it. I like most of what you have said much, though I do not agree with your deprecation of Dr Hook’s character of Edward VI, for certainly his own journal does not bear out the praises bestowed on him, and it was rather forward to say the least of it in a mere boy to meddle with the convictions of learned men. Thanks much for the whole – it is pleasant reading-
