MS British Library Add MSS 54920: 212-3

My dear Mr Macmillan,
The mistakes about Walsingham & Sidney had perhaps better be mentioned in the preface to disarm the critics, and that unlucky Amen must be made an erratum it is so ridiculous in its present position.1

Would you notify this to Clay, as I do not know the page.

What do you say to the story of Indian Life I sent you? If you cannot do any thing with it, please write to me before returning it, for I think I shall ask Mr Warne to look at it, and it is a pity it should travel 140 miles between Nos 15 and 162

Yours sincerely
C M Yonge

1Endorsed ‘Routledge attending to this’. These anachronisms were noted in the preface to The Chaplet of Pearls.
2Frederick Warne (1825-1901), publisher, had offices at 15 Bedford Street, next door to Macmillan.
