Otterbourne,
[early] Oct. 1868.

MS location unknown. This fragment printed in Dulce Domum, 207.

Anne and I were pleased to have a sight of Emily; there is more change in the latter than in the former in the fourteen years since they met.1 I hope you will not have to part with the Chester division2 of the family much before Christmas. Perhaps if you do not join them there very soon after they go, you would let me come to you for a little while. . . I am not afraid of solitary days; after all, it is all well . . .

1Anne Yonge (b. 1825) would have been 29 fourteen years earlier, Emily Awdry (nee Moberly) (b. 1839) only 15.
2Dr Moberly was appointed a Canon of Chester in October 1868, and the family moved there in December 1868.
