MS Lambeth Palace Library Keble Deposit 4/143

My dear Mrs Keble
How very stupid and ungrateful you must have thought me, but I never saw your Son’s letter when I opened – and answered yours, and only found it this morning.

It satisfies me all the more as being what I was always inclined to think.

yours affectionately
C M Yonge

1Elizabeth Jane Clarke (1804–1870) married (1835) the Reverend Thomas Keble, younger brother of John Keble who married her younger sister Charlotte in 1835.
2Probably after John Keble's death in 1866 and before Elizabeth Keble's death in September 1870. Placed here on the assumption that it relates to the composition of Musings over the 'Christian Year' (1871).
