Innocents' Day [28 December 1871]

MS location unknown. Printed in Dulce Domum 245

[To Mary Ann Moberly]

I tremble to say that I am going to write his life, and I am probably going to Lichfield to talk it over with the Selwyns and Abrahams.1 It is very awful, for it is embalming the Saint for the Church. I hope the Bishop will let me have copies of the letters to him.

1CMY had been commissioned by the sisters of the martyred Bishop Patteson to write his biography, and went to talk to his former colleagues in New Zealand, the Rt. Rev. George Augustus Selwyn, Bishop of Lichfield, the Rt. Rev. Charles Abraham, Bishop of Wellington, and their wives.
