My dear Miss Smith

I am afraid I do not quite remember the terms of the advertisement Can you send it to me again or its substance within the next few days. I ought not to have sent it or the address to her friends away but things do so accumulate that I am glad to make space!1 Here is a query which concerns you, and perhaps you will answer direct as I am not sure whether A C D owns all her books publicly, and I am afraid some are out of print.2

I am so glad Regent Rosalind is coming out One of the very best things I think you ever wrote was Georgie’s Christmas holidays.

yours sincerely
C M Yonge

1An advertisement had appeared in MP (September 1877), 296, which may perhaps be the one referred to: 'Can any correspondent kindly tell me if there is any school where the orphan daughter of a clergyman could receive a sound education, and where the expenses would be very small? Any information will be thankfully received by Miss Duncan, S.Michael's Hamlet, near Liverpool.
2Carter Smith published her work under these initials.
