My dear Mrs Bramston

The Eastleigh girl would not go to London, so if you have a Winchester – or an Essex one, it would be a very good thing for

Mrs Spralt[?]1

1This is one of many letters which show CMY helping to obtain jobs in domestic service for village girls. Miss Maria Salter, butcher, is recorded at this address in the 1882 Post Office London Directory. Jane Bramston was the wife of a clergyman who taught at Winchester College, and the daughter of an Essex clergyman.
