I think I have pretty well arranged about the Cambridge Literature papers. Miss Knatchbull Hugesson (Lord Brabourne’s daughter) will write them, and find a questioner and critic to work in concert with, and we will have the two prizes as you propose.1 The remaining question is shall this £5 come out of the fees for entering for the examination in the Society – or will you pay it, and let the whole sum go to the critic, who will most likely be some Newnham lady to whom some remuneration would be an object. I am glad to have Miss K H, as her father is sure to take interest in her work

Yours truly
C M Yonge

1The June 1888 issue of MP included, p. 595, an announcement that 'On July 1st a series of Papers on English Literature will be commenced by the Hon. Eva Knatchbull-Hugessen, intended to assist in preparation for that branch of the Cambridge Higher Local Examination for Women, to be held in June 1889. Questions will be set after each Paper by Miss Mackenzie, late scholar of Newnham College Cambridge'.
