Dear Madam,
I am much obliged for your offer of sending an account of the Queen’s visit to Cherbourg for the Monthly Packet, but I am afraid that the pages are already so fully engaged that it could hardly be inserted while it still retained the fresh interest which an article on such a subject requires.1 It could certainly not appear in September, nor unless very short in October, and after that the time for it would be gone by . I therefore think I had better decline it, with many thanks, while there is still time to offer it to some other periodical

With many thanks
Yours sincerely
C M Yonge
