My dear Hannah
Thank you for your kind note. It will be a great pleasure to have Alethea here but she cannot come till October, as the curacy cannot be left and the house has to be put in order.2 I suppose they will hardly be come by the time you come home. It is too dusty today for almost anything.

Yours affectionately
C M Yonge

2Black-edged paper.
2Hannah (Rogers) Carey (b. 1838/9) was the widow of CMY’s cousin James Arthur Yonge (1822-1864), and lived at Botley, Hants. with her second husband Charles Egerton Carey. She had evidently written to congratulate CMY on the fact that the new Vicar of Otterbourne was the Rev. Henry Bowles, who was married to her niece Alethea Yonge.
