Dear Mrs Lennard
I did not write because I knew of no one who would respond to your plan, Are you going back to your old quarters?

I do not know Mr Arnold’s address. My nephew saw him at Lowestoft, where he was going to open an hotel! He has married a cousin of his wife’s

Miss Finlaison is at Preston for her holidays with her nieces, the Jenners,2 whose mother died this spring. They are in the same house Preston Vicarage, Dover if you want to write to her. Cottages are not to be had here, there are people constantly applying in vain

Poor old Packet – the publishers came to grief and pulled it down with them. Arnold’s house is made into a villa for the Cranbury agent. I should doubt anyone having his address here

Yours sincerely
C M Yonge

1Envelope addressed to ‘Mrs Barrett Lennard/ 10 Cranbourne Court / Albert Bridge/ London SW'.
