Dear Mr Beck

I hear that the Warden and the Echeverias have safely reached Otterbourne.2

Thank you very much for them

Yours sincerely
C M Yonge

1This was the home of Mary Yonge after her father’s death in August 1877.
2The person most likely to be the one thanked here seems to be the Rev. James Beck (b. 1819/20), Rector of Parham, Sussex, and subsequently of Bildeston, Suffolk, who had married (1867) Caroline Jeannette (Bignell) Walter, stepmother of Gertrude Walter. The 'Warden' was probably a pear tree.
