At last I return all the precious letters you lent me.2 I ought to have done so sooner

I have not been able to use many as they went so much on the same ground as the journal letters.

2The Rev. John Frederick Lloyd (1810-1875) was a fellow of St John's College, Auckland, 1849-1853, vicar of St Paul's, Auckland, 1853-1865 and archdeacon of Waitemata, 1865-1870. Owing to ill health he returned to England in 1870 where he became rector of Kirk-lreton, Wirksworth. CMY is thanking him for help with her Life of John Coleridge Patteson.
