Dear Mr Macmillan

Many thanks for your prompt response which relieves me of a good deal of worry.1

Yes there are two short stories to be recovered from America, about the length of the Ghost. One I make sure of in a month or six weeks, the other must depend on the civility of Perry Mason.2

They would both come at the end being modern, but if I need write any more to make up the set, I should know in time, as my present ideas are of the historical order

With many thanks

Yours sincerely
C M Yonge

1She had asked for an advance of money in her previous letter.
2CMY was assembling the stories which were republished as Bye-Words (1880).
