MS British Library Add MSS 54921: 241

Dear Mr Macmillan
The Clerk of the Peace undertakes to ask the consent of Mr Portal and the Magistrates at the Quarter Sessions – so there is no doubt that this will be right.1

Could the little wood cut of the Ampfield fountain (in the book) be inserted – And one view of the old Hursley Church would be liked

Otherwise the list is very satisfactory.

That likeness of Mr Keble has never been published, and would be much preferred if we can have it.

Otherwise the one in Lock’s life

Yours truly
C M Yonge

1The letter refers to illustrations for John Keble's Parishes, which were to include a portrait of Sir William Heathcote hung in the County Hall in Winchester.
