Dear Madam,
There is nothing more difficult than to get a translation especially a French translation taken. I know Madame Therèse and a very pretty book it is, but I should think most of the persons who could appreciate it could read it in French. The story now being translated in the Monthly Packet has long been out of print and was little known in England. I do not I confess see much hope at present, but if Mr Bell advises your sending it to Mrs Gatty, I should think you had better do so, as a publisher may exercise influence in its favour and certainly his advice is not to be neglected1

Yours truly
C M Yonge

1Margaret Gatty was the editor of Aunt Judy’s Magazine, published by Bell.
