Narrative 16 passengers and 10 crew of the Maria, wrecked at the Coorong were masssacred by the Milmenrura. The SA govt declared martial law in the region and a party of police shot 2-4 Milmenrura men and hanged 2 others. This was the largest group of colonists killed by Aboriginal people in one operation.
